TIC markets Tanzania at the World Investment Forum in Geneva .

Geneva, 22 October 2018: The World Investment Forum (WIF) kicked-off in the Swiss capital with 160 nations participating as Tanzania looking to showcase the country as one of the best investment destinations on the African Continent because of its political stability, fast growing economy, good govenance and good infrastructure development. The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Secretary General, Dr Mukhisa Kituyi opened the five-day forum themed ‘investing for sustainable development’ under globalization and Industrialization.


Tanzania delegation led by its Permanent Representative to Geneva, Ambassador Dr. James Msekela, is fully participating in the forum with the Executive Director of Tanzania Investemnt Centre Mr. Geoffrey Mwambe expected to engage in various presentations, interviews and dialogues as a way of marketing Tanzania.  Furthermore, Mr Mwambe is also expected to showcase Tanzania interms of investment oppotunities, business environment and how the country was positioning itself through industrialization drive as it seek to achieve  a middle-income status by 2025. 


The Tanzania delegation is also participating in an exhibition at the World Investment Village, where over 40 countries have an opportunity to inform participants on various invesmnet issues in their country inluding why invest, opportunities available and investment faciliatation ervices. Some of the countries participating in the World Investment Village are Rwanda, Namibia, Gaboni, Malawi, Nigeria, Burkina, Faso, Siera Leone, Madagascar, Botwasana, Zimbabwe, Kongo, Burundi, Cote Devour, Mauritius na Zambia who apart from showcasing their countries but they also significantly learn from their colleagues. 


Over 5,000 participants are taking part in  this year’s forum, which is being organized after every two years. Participants include Heads of State, Ministers, PSs, Invesment Promotion Agency CEOs, Heads of International Organizations, Experts, Politicians, NGO, Private Sector representatives, Academia and International Media.
